The Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police longest serving  member, Commissioner George R. Lanwi, has retired after 17 years as Commissioner of Police for the Marshall Islands Police Department.

In his parting message, Commissioner Lanwi  said “I want to pass on my thanks to all the good friends who are members of the PICP, past and present for their support to MIPD and for everything that I was able to learn from them”.  Commissioner Lanwi further went on to say how much he had enjoyed his 17 years as Commissioner of Police and being a member of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police.

Executive Director of the PICP Superintendent, Waata Shepherd, acknowledged Commissioner Lanwi’s 35 year policing service: “We are sincerely sorry to see him go, we appreciate the significant contribution he has made to the PICP over many years”.

On behalf of the PICP, we wish Commissioner Lanwi all the very best in retirement and look forward to building another strong relationship with the new Marshall Islands Police Department Commissioner once appointed.
