Expressions of Interest are sought from sworn police and civilian / unsworn members of PICP member countries for the 2020 Seconded Pacific Officer (SPO) program.

In this round we are seeking applicants who are self-motivated, with good communication skills (both written and verbal), strong administrative skills and/or experience in program management to assist with PICP service delivery and relationships management. Secondees will be based in Wellington (NZ), with travel throughout the Pacific as necessary.

These secondments will be focused on assisting the Secretariat to deliver the priorities of the PICP, including (but not limited to) ongoing support for the Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) and activities to support new projects, such as the Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC), and anticipated work regarding the development of human resources, welfare/wellbeing and diversity policies and practices in Pacific police services. Many of these duties will be office-based. Applicants should be comfortable working in a corporate environment and be confident users of computers and other ICT.

Terms and Conditions

SPO secondments will commence from February 2020 for a period of up to 8 months. Secondments are unaccompanied (without family members). SPOs will continue to be paid their normal salary, and all other costs associated with the placements will be met by the PICP Secretariat including:

  • Travel costs
  • Accommodation
  • Utilities (excluding telephone calls)
  • A monthly living allowance rate

The successful applicants will come under the administrative control of the PICP Executive Director for the duration of the secondment.
