The Pacific Incident Management Systems (PacIMS) Awareness Course provides a foundation in understanding of how an incident management system is applied in the Pacific. Importantly, the course modules are appropriate not only for professional disaster management practitioners, but those who are generally engaged to respond during a disaster.
The course is free. It can be completed online, and also downloaded and accessed when offline.
The course consists of four modules that take up to 45 mins each to complete.
Provides common understanding and consistency of terminology across multiple agencies utilising nomenclature, terminology, arrangements, case studies and scenarios from the region.
Outlines the basic principles, roles and responsibilities and concepts of an incident management system including the links to the humanitarian sector/cluster system and how it supports the national response arrangements.
PacIMS aims to support and improve the understanding by all parties of the relationships and roles performed in this often complex environment.
